Apprentice HVAC Technician

Hoskinson Contracting LLC is looking to add an Apprentice HVAC Technician to our team. This individual will work with our Journeyman and Master HVAC Technicians to help them with tasks related to HVAC installations and maintenance in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They will receive hands on training and experience to grow a career in the HVAC field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Assisting Senior Technicians: Apprentices work alongside experienced HVAC technicians to assist with installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks. They learn from their mentors by observing and participating in various aspects of HVAC work.
- Learning HVAC Basics: Apprentices undergo training to learn fundamental HVAC principles, including thermodynamics, refrigeration cycle, electrical systems, airflow dynamics, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Tool Familiarization: They become familiar with the tools, equipment, and materials used in HVAC work, including hand tools, power tools, gauges, meters, and testing instruments.
- Installation Assistance: Apprentices assist in the installation of HVAC systems, including heating units, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, ductwork, and related components. This involves carrying materials, setting up equipment, and following instructions from senior technicians.
- Maintenance Tasks: Under supervision, apprentices perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, such as cleaning filters, lubricating moving parts, inspecting electrical connections, and checking system performance.
- Repair Assistance: Apprentices help senior technicians diagnose and repair HVAC systems by handing them tools, holding equipment, and following instructions. This provides valuable hands-on experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Safety Practices: Apprentices learn and adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. They receive training on handling tools and equipment safely, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and preventing accidents and injuries.
- Customer Interaction: Apprentices may interact with clients under supervision, assisting senior technicians in discussing HVAC needs, providing basic information, and addressing questions or concerns.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong communication skills for working team members.
- Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety protocols.
- Good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Apprentice HVAC license or ability to obtain
- Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
- The job of an HVAC Technician can be physically demanding, involving lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders or scaffolds.
Compensation:
- Hourly Compensation: We are offering a highly competitive, negotiated hourly rate based on experience.
