Commercial Property Bookkeeper Position Overview
The commercial property bookkeeper will be responsible for various accounting tasks within the property management portfolio in order to create and maintain accurate and timely financial reports for our clients. This is a remote, full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations-checking off payments received and checks that have cleared
  • Re-class items posted on the general ledger as needed
  • Maintain and ensure accurate use of GL chart of accounts per property
  • Oversee a weekly accounts payable workflow while providing a monthly, quarterly and annual reviews as requested
  • Assist with requests from clients or clients accountants-develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, bank partners and vendors
  • Record any month-end journal entries as needed
  • Receive, review and respond to all internal and external communication in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, review for accuracy, and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets
  • Assist with annual reconciliations of recoverable charges
  • Continually review and ensure that fiduciary responsibilities are being upheld to properties
  • Prepare and submit 1099s according to IRS deadlines
  • Prepare and distribute monthly management and maintenance invoices to each property
  • Oversee tenant chargeback process for any expenses to be paid by the tenant
  • Review aged receivables monthly and follow up on any delinquent balances
  • Assist with requests from clients or clients accountants
  • Maintain record of and track property tax payments
  • Attend department and company meetings
Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Prior experience with Appfolio or Bill.com softwares a plus, but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, experience with property or facilities management accounting a plus
