The Group Controller is responsible for performance and oversight of the accounting, tax and treasury operations for the Bridgewell Building Materials family of companies, which includes three legal entities. Responsibilities include managing the financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement), budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and financial control environment. This role includes the direct supervision of the invoice team, senior accountant, and financial analyst.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the Parent Company.
- Implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk of misstatement or loss.
- Manage the accounting function for the entities and work closely with the Parent Company to support treasury and tax functions for the entities.
- Ensures that reported results are compliant with GAAP.
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting.
- Prepares financial reporting package (monthly, & quarterly) for Private Equity owners.
- Complete Year-End Audit files for assigned entities and serves as the main point of contact for internal and external auditors for those entities.
- Oversee capital expenditure projects for entities, tracking spending against forecast and budget.
- Oversee inventory count procedures and results, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Perform monthly close procedures including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Coordinates the annual budget and monthly forecasts for all responsible legal entities.
- Maintain weekly cash flow forecasts as requested by CFO or CEO.
- Serves as the system administrator for any software platforms unique to the Bridgewell Building Materials family of companies.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial business-related duties as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by CFO and CEO.
- Work closely with the parent company controller as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant designation and Public Accounting experience In the audit department.
- 6+ years of related experience required.
- Experience in the construction industry specifically percentage of completion accounting.
- Solid management skills with experience leading teams of 2 or more employees, with a track record of mentoring and growing team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in managing varied accounting/administrative functions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Proven ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft programs including Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc.
