Compensation: $18 an hour
Synopsis:
The communications internship at La Clínica del Pueblo offers a mission-driven individual the chance to develop a strong foundation in communications within a diverse and culturally rich environment. The intern will support key strategies to engage our support base and raise visibility among various audiences across the DMV. Working closely with the Communications Director and the communications team, the intern will assist in supporting the department’s day-to-day needs.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and communicate professionally with clients, staff, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Skilled writer and creative thinker
- Proficiency in MS Word and Microsoft 365.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish including writing.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- None specified.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Passion for communication and engagement.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and scheduling tools like Hootsuite.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft key messaging, language, and letters that align with institutional priorities for various communication channels (social media, website, e-newsletter).
- Craft a social media calendar and schedule posts in Hootsuite.
- Upload, tag, and manage all digital assets to a story bank cloud.
- Support content creation to enhance engagement for key events and campaigns.
- Expand the story bank by conducting interviews and gathering stories from patients, providers, and community members in a trauma informed manner.
- Expand the press list by identifying reporters, podcasters, influencers, and radio shows.
- Translate institutional materials from English to Spanish.
- Travel between 15th St, La Casa, and Hyattsville locations as needed.
- Perform additional communications functions based on timing and priorities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel between multiple locations as needed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with both in-office and remote tasks.
