PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND POSITION OVERVIEW
The Communications and Operations Associate will be responsible for school-wide communication and
support the implementation of daily operational systems, revising them as necessary so GCCS runs
smoothly daily. They will work to ensure all staff can focus on students rather than materials, supplies,
etc. They will work to optimize the school’s facilities and technology to ensure GCCS is a seamless and
high-functioning learning environment. They will be responsible for developing a marketing and
communication plan to increase student enrollment and to ensure students, families, and staff have
access to important information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
School Communications
● Support the development of the school website, be a liaison between the website vendor, and
update the website throughout the year, including, but not limited to, posting Board meeting
dates, links, and minutes; updates about inclement weather; information about important
events, etc.
● Develop and execute a yearlong social media plan
● Create graphics and content for GCCS social media channels, manage engagement, and monitor
social media metrics to measure success

● Support strategic planning for marketing campaigns and enrollment strategy to achieve short-
and long-term goals for GCCS

● Attend and document significant school events to take pictures, record videos, and collect
testimonials from event participants

School Operations
● Lead essential daily school operations functions, including attendance, field trip logistics, family
survey collection, etc.
● Support student events by coordinating with the custodial staff for set up and clean up
● Lead registration efforts for PreK and K
● Ensure all PreK - 2nd families are connected to Class Dojo so they can receive important updates
promptly
● Support maintenance of student information system, ensuring the accuracy of all student data
● Support with student recruitment and enrollment activities, including participation in
recruitment events, canvassing the neighborhood, assisting with document collection,
supporting family orientation, etc.
● Support the student IT hardware inventory management, including distribution, troubleshooting,
and collection, and assist with tech setup for meetings, as needed.
● Distribute and track students’ MetroCards
● Support all elements of National School Lunch and summer food programs
● Responds to document requests or grant submissions that require school-specific student
information
● ATS management
● Support in the main office by attending to students and families, answering the phone, etc.
● Support at the front desk and ensuring school safety by monitoring and managing who enters
and exits the school
School Administration
● Assists in the collection and reporting of data related to federal, state, and school authorizer
accountability targets
● Additional support and assignments as directed by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor’s degree, Master’s in Business Administration or equivalent preferred
● Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Excellent computer skills, excel and office software in particular
● High attention to detail and accuracy
● Prior experience with school operations desired
