United Way for Greater Austin is a regional organization, and this role may be responsible for supporting our regional projects and initiatives.


Who we want:


We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Field Manager. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting our efforts to improve health outcomes and promote equity work in Williamson County as part of our Accountable Communities of Health Initiative, Community Health Connect.


What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with community partners, including local government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community-based groups, to assess food security needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Conduct community outreach to raise awareness about food insecurity issues and available resources.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and workshops to gather input from residents and stakeholders and identify priorities for action.
  • Coordinate with local food banks, pantries, farmers markets, and other food assistance programs to enhance access to nutritious food options.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting food security, such as community gardens, nutrition education workshops, and food distribution events, as they emerge in the long-term community plan.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to community organizations and volunteers involved in food security efforts.
  • Collect and analyze data on food insecurity indicators to track progress and inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with ACH leadership and partners to integrate food security initiatives into broader community health strategies.
  • Represent the ACH initiative at community events, meetings, and conferences to promote awareness and engagement around food security issues.
  • Collaborate with the Accountable Communities of Health initiative in Williamson County to identify community needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Serve as a liaison between United Way for Greater Austin and community organizations, stakeholders, and residents in Williamson County in accordance with United Way policies and procedures.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, community development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community organizing, program coordination, or related field, with a focus on food security preferred.
  • Knowledge of food systems, food access barriers, and strategies for addressing food insecurity.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
  • Knowledge of health equity principles and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis tools preferred.

This position is located in Williamson County, Texas, and reports directly to the Community Health Connect Director.
