Reports to: Director

Position Overview: As a Preschool Teacher at Calvary Christian Academy (CCA), you will play a pivotal role in nurturing and educating young children aged 2 to 5 years old. You will create a supportive and engaging environment that fosters growth, learning, and development in alignment with Christian principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for preschool-aged children, ensuring they feel secure and valued in the classroom setting.
  2. Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  3. Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress, activities, and achievements.
  4. Ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness standards are upheld within the classroom, including sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces regularly.
  5. Adhere to licensing regulations and CCA policies and procedures related to preschool education, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
  6. Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff members to create a cohesive learning environment and support the overall mission and values of CCA.
  7. Assess each child's development and individual needs, adapting teaching strategies and interventions as necessary to promote growth and success.
  8. Foster positive relationships with children and families, offering emotional support and encouragement while respecting cultural and individual differences.
  9. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance teaching skills and stay current on best practices in early childhood education.
  10. Serve as a role model of Christ-like behavior, demonstrating patience, respectfulness, integrity, and self-control in all interactions with children, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to upholding Christian values and principles in all aspects of the role.
  • Successful completion of background checks, including fingerprinting and central registry checks, ensuring the safety and well-being of children in our care.
