Position Title: Secondary Academic Achievement Specialist

Program Name: AmeriCorps Youth Education & Enrichment at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township

Term of Service: Complete 900 hours as a Half Time Member between September 1st, 2024 - August 31st, 2025


Job Summary: The Secondary Academic Achievement Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs focused on academic improvement and educational enrichment for secondary school-aged youth. This role emphasizes creating engaging learning experiences that support academic success, foster a love for learning, and enhance overall educational outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive programs and initiatives designed to improve academic performance and literacy skills among secondary-aged youth.

Create age-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and educational materials that align with academic standards and support individualized learning needs.

Provide direct academic support and tutoring to secondary-aged youth in subjects such as reading, mathematics, science, and language arts.

Monitor club member progress, track academic performance data, and adjust instructional strategies to ensure continuous improvement and achievement.

Collaborate with parents, guardians, and caregivers to support student academic success through regular communication, family workshops, and parent education programs.

Build positive relationships with club members and families to foster a supportive learning environment that promotes academic motivation, self-confidence, and a growth mindset.




Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States

Successful completion of a background check, fingerprinting and drug screening.

Passion for working with youth

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings



Time Requirement:

Complete 900 hours during the time of service

Participate in mandatory days of service

Complete hours during direct service hours at designated site (i.e. after-school hours, no school days (if applicable), special events, family engagement activities, etc.)



Benefits:

Living allowance provided on a bi-weekly basis, $15,300 yearly gross pay.
