Physical Therapy Assistant

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides direct outpatient rehab care in physical therapy to patients upon a physician referral and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Essential functions:

· Provide physical therapy interventions based on an individualized treatment plan-of-care written by a physical therapist.

· Perform therapy interventions utilizing techniques and skills as appropriate for the patient.

· Document treatment interventions given and document detailed assessment of each treatment session, including tolerance to interventions, remaining deficits, rationale for treatment current and moving forward, and areas that need more focus in the future/areas that patient is excelling.

· Instruct and guide patients for appropriate exercise techniques.

· Develop fitness/wellness-oriented programs specific to patients’ needs using a variety of treatment techniques.

· Provide quality, personalized and evidence-based care and proven interventions.

· Motivate patients during treatment to help them to obtain optimal function.

· Promote patients’ healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.

· Consult and practice with other health professionals, including the evaluating physical therapist, for planning modifying and coordinating treatment programs.

· Evaluate effects and monitor and communicate progress to evaluating physical therapist.

Job requirements:

Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy. Currently licensed in Kansas. One year experience in outpatient care setting preferred.
