A&A Paving in Roselle, IL. is currently searching for a person to fill their full-time/ year-long Asphalt / Concrete Project Manager position.

The Real Job:

This role is a hybrid position that manages projects and a crew in the field to ensure profitability but also provides crucial support by occasionally assessing pavement repair needs throughout the Chicagoland suburbs by providing pictures, video and detailed maps of repairs needed for asphalt and concrete surfaces.

Things You’ll Do as part of the PROJECT MANAGER day to day tasks  (Essential Functions):

• Direct, coordinate, and oversees activities of a 9-man paving crew and a 4-man sealcoating crew to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  
• “Kick Off” your crew at the start of each day at the A&A shop
• Help determine labor and schedule requirements necessary to achieve additional efficiencies and cost savings to increase the profit margin earned per day
• Collaborate with field personnel of each project in the development and execution of a daily and weekly plan to ensure that project expectations for schedule, budget, safety and quality control are achieved.
• Daily check ins with your Production Manager as well as weekly PM team meetings.
• Collect information from Pavement Consultants for projects sold and complete checklists for scheduling / job sheets with assistance from your Production Manager
• Assist in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling jobs/ projects. Participate in scheduling and communication with Pavement Consultants regarding all projects.
• Prepares field work orders, project documents, purchasing, for each project in coordination and with direction from the Production Manager.
• Keeps the Pavement Consultants informed and updated of day-to-day status of projects coordinates meeting schedules/activities associated with the project.

Things You’ll Do as part of the Pavement Assessor (day to day tasks) in support of the sales team (Essential Functions):

• Visit commercial and HOA properties, assess pavement and concrete repair needs to support our Pavement Consultants or Business Development Manager.
• Take field measurements, pictures, and videos, create repair maps, and then coordinate and discuss all information with the Estimating Department and Sales Department so that they can produce profitable proposals and sell projects.
• Organization and attention to detail is a must when assessing and then communicating to any A&A team members your analysis

Ideal Knowledge:

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction and maintenance of parking lots including subgrade preparation, asphalt paving, crack sealing, seal coating and striping & concrete.
• Understanding and knowledge of reading plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas clearly, verbally and in writing while effectively working with others.
• Ability to hold and maintain valid state driver’s license in required categories necessary to operate assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of computers and software such as iphone, ipad, Microsoft Office, Excel, “Wheel It Off” software and CRM’s.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines and standards for ADA and pavement maintenance projects.
• Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
• Skill organizing resources and establishing priorities.
• Must be quick to adapt and to thrive in a fast-pace industry
• Problem solving with attention to detail
• Self motivated and ability to work independently

Organization:

The Asphalt / Concrete Project Manager is part of the Production Dept. They report to the Production Manager.

Education:

Asphalt / Concrete Project Manager personnel should possess at a minimum a bachelor’s degree, trade certificates or equivalent qualifying on the job experience project, preferably in the pavement industry.

Being a seasonal business, we encourage a work-life balance. The summer hours are long and the winters are short. If you are a GRINDER you will understand that the off season (winter) is just as important as the busy summer when we are in season.  Fri's off was tested in 2022 and still being reviewed for the 2023 season.
