Summary:

Pick up gift-in-kind and other food supplies as coordinated through the Food Services Manager. Represent KARM in a professional, courteous, and wholesome manner. Work effectively in an environment where other food service operations are occurring simultaneously. Maintain accurate records of donations. Ensure vehicle maintenance and cleanliness at all times.  Ensure food safety by maintaining high standards for food packaging and transport. Assist the Facilities department with routine maintenance activities. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other in the food service department.


Essential Functions:

  • Pick up and deliver food from wide range of donor settings (restaurants, convention centers, grocery distributors); maintain accurate and complete records of donations
  • Utilize standard inventory/storage procedures for food delivered to ministry
  • Plan routes to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Operate assigned vehicles in a safe and courteous manner; drive defensively
  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records requested by Food Services Manager
  • Respond immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers
  • Serve as a positive representative of KARM; demonstrate effective customer service skills
  • Maintain food at proper temperatures during delivery and pick up
  • Exhibit caring Christian lifestyle to clients, staff, donors, and guests
  • Assist in the daily and routine facility maintenance activities of KARM including preventive maintenance, help desk tickets, and other special projects
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements: 

  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule; occasional weekend work
  • Associates degree in business or similar or equivalent experience and training
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Current Tennessee driver’s license with F endorsement; safe driving record
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal abilities
  • Basic computer skills, including basic data entry and MS Excel
  • Capacity to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.


Working Conditions:

  • Majority of time spent loading, transporting, and unloading GIK
  • Occasional required attendance at KARM meetings or special events, sometimes during evening hours
  • Occasionally required to assist with off-site catering functions or food service operations in other KARM or KARM-related locations
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions, typical of a warehouse environment.
