Department: Food

Reports to: General Manager or Dining Room Manager

 

Summary:

Serve meals to guests in resort dining establishments and at banquets by performing
the following duties:

Responsibilities  

  • Provides excellent guest service.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the property and all its services. Is generally familiar with other lodges and activities in CSP.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with menu items and service procedures.
  • Presents menu, answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
  • Uses suggestive selling methods for building check averages.
  • Uses a POS system to order food and beverages and prints out tickets for guests.
  • Verifies minimum legal age (21) of any patron ordering alcoholic beverages who appears to be 30 years old or younger.
  • Relays order to kitchen and/or lounge and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • May garnish and decorate dishes prior to service.
  • Serves patrons food, cocktails and wine at the table.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to cashier.
  • Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee and performs other services as determined by lodge policy.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
  • Clears and sets dining room tables as needed.
  • Performs side work efficiently and thoroughly as detailed by dining room management staff.
  • Keeps work area clean and uncluttered. Checks dining room and service area floors for litter.
  • May be assigned other duties, sometimes in other departments, as the need arises to support fellow staff members in achieving the company mission.

Education/Experience Preferred:

  • Prior experience and/or training is desirable but not required.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing abilities and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
