Job DescriptionJob Description

Primary Purpose

The Mechanic Trainee will work under the direction of a Senior Mechanic I or an Equipment Mechanic I while learning to perform the full scope of duties of a Mechanic through an on-the-job training program. This person will perform technical tasks in the maintenance and repair of light to heavy duty, gasoline and diesel-fueled equipment. Work will require a high degree of technical knowledge, and as increased work skill is attained this trainee will be expected to exercise increased independent judgement in determining repair methods as assignments increase in scopa ns responsibility. This trainee is also responsible for performing related work as required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Assist in performing general equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Willing to be trained in basic troubleshooting or hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Willing to be trained to do migwelding of steel and aluminum
  • Operate equipment to perform general equipment repair and installation
  • Perform assigned work in compliance with all Safe work procedures, guidelines, practices, permits, and air monitoring requirements

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: Basic knowledge and experience changing oil and using a grease gun required.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. General knowledge in truck preventative maintenance services and ability to use hand tools to complete a job. Willingness to learn and take direction from team members. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
