You could be a part of our Metal Fabrication team working as a Technician in our Wire Processing area. If you are hard-working and self-sufficient, and you like to learn and help with continuous improvement initiatives while becoming an expert in wire processing, this job is for you You'll learn to perform setup and operation of wire bending and straightening machines while work closely with others to ensure all wire equipment and tooling is working at capacity, and meeting quality production requirements.

What you will get to do
  • Perform wire bender and straightener machine setup and operations.
  • Program and make basic adjustments to equipment, both automation and manual.
  • Coordinate tooling repairs with other technicians and supervisor to ensure all tooling is capable of meeting quality and production requirements.
  • Assist in the efforts to standardize wire bending operations, reduce downtime and setup times.
  • Assist wire operators on safe work practices.
  • Notify the supervisor or department manager of incorrect travelers.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process by demonstrating the use of 5-S.
  • Verify all dies and fixtures are in proper repair to produce high quality wires.
  • Learn to properly adjust the parameters on automatic wire machining centers and other related equipment.
  • Learn to set up or configure wires on all wire benders, wire straightener and associated equipment.
  • Help train new wire bending operators.
  • Report any/all damages of straightener dies, machines, racking or other equipment to management in a timely manner.
  • Assist department supervisor in improving operational efficiencies.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe inventory level of spooled wires and bent wires. Informs the supervisor or manager when inventory level needs replenished.
  • Perform regular cycle counts to ensure accurate wire inventories.
  • Comply with all safety compliance procedures and policies.
  • Responsible for assisting in keeping all department areas clean and organized.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an operator in Metal Fabrication
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, not required.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English at a 6th grade level is preferred. Bilingual language skills is a plus.
  • Learn and use 5-S and other Lean Manufacturing Tools.
  • Ability and willingness to complete required in-house training and obtain Nordic Ware Forklift certification if necessary.
  • Ability to work well with others and represent Metal Fab and Nordic Ware in a positive manner in all interactions.
  • Exhibit a spirit of team cooperation and contribute to a positive work environment through consistent communication, active listening and follow through.
  • Ability to learn and correctly interpret and understand Bill of Material process sheets, blueprints, and other required documentation.
