Position

The Showroom Manager drives sales excellence by ensuring outstanding customer experiences in the store, process improvement up through the warm handoff of customer orders to the operations team, and the hiring, retention, and development of design and sales staff. The Showroom Manager is a peer of the Operations Manager and Pro Experience Manager (if applicable to your store), and all three positions report to the Chief Experience Manager (CXM), who leads the store. As a member of the store leadership team, the Showroom Manager is a player-coach who fulfills the Home Surplus Customer Promise by delivering timely response to customer inquiries, unmatched product and design expertise, and memorable customer experiences that drive repeat and referral business.

 

Primary Responsibility

Drive sales growth, continuous improvement, and outstanding customer experiences via:

  • Effective hiring, coaching, and leadership of the showroom team to ensure that each member meets individual metrics.
  • Delegation and division of labor to meet the needs of the business while also…
  • Developing the sales, design, and communication skills of showroom team members.
  • Leading by example as the product and design expert – the Source of Truth.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage 2020 design catalogs.
  • Master the Home Surplus product screen, while also learning how our products and service capabilities compare to major competitors.
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations via an encouraging, well-informed, consultative approach to drive repeat and referral business.
  • Collaborate with store and corporate leaders to deliver the Home Surplus Customer Promise.
  • Provide feedback to merchandising re trends, product requests from customers, etc.
  • Optimize team culture and cooperation.
  • Use company systems to communicate with precision and drive process efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with team members across functions to deliver outstanding customer service and make Home Surplus a great place to work.

 

Requirements

  • An above average kitchen designer who can teach design and sales skills both to newcomers and experienced designers.
  • Strong preference for an experienced showroom, department, or store leader in a home design/supply retail environment who could rapidly ascend to be a CXM in our high growth company.
  • Brings familiarity with kitchen fixtures and the basics of residential construction.
  • Highly organized.
  • Outstanding listening skills.
  • High interpersonal intelligence.
  • Warm. Enjoys interacting with people.
  • Enthusiastic, firm, fair, reliable team leader.
  • A closer with outstanding follow through.
  • Balance of moderate creativity and a willingness to follow accepted sales funnel processes.
  • Enjoys working with technology. MUST HAVE experience with 2020 design visualization software.
  • Professional presentation. Strong verbal communication and above average written communication skills.
  • Balance of courage and humility. Owns mistakes, asks for help, and addresses problems before they escalate.
  • Moderate flexibility, including the ability to work Saturdays, in keeping with a traditional retail environment.
  • Speaks and understands English clearly. Fluency in other languages a plus.

 

Physical/Environmental Requirements: 

Work is performed in a showroom/warehouse retail environment during traditional retail business hours.  Physical requirements include:

  • Extended periods of time working at a desktop computer.
  • Extended periods of time standing.
  • Speaking in person, on the phone, and by video.
  • Limited travel to properties to measure, etc.
