Job Description

As the Quality Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in our automotive production line processes. You will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control measures, overseeing inspection protocols, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive quality management, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to lead quality initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Quality Management System:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) by industry standards and regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO and other relevant quality certifications.
  2. Process Development and Improvement:
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to establish and refine quality control processes throughout the production lifecycle.
    • Implement Lean and Six Sigma principles to identify and eliminate defects and inefficiencies.
  3. Inspection and Testing:
    • Develop and oversee inspection procedures, ensuring all automotive components and final products meet specified quality standards.
    • Implement testing protocols for materials, components, and finished vehicles.
    • Conduct time studies and suggest strategies for improving efficiency.
  4. Supplier Quality Management:
    • Collaborate with the supply chain team to establish and maintain rigorous supplier quality standards.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments of suppliers to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
  5. Quality Metrics and Reporting:
    • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the effectiveness of the quality management system.
    • Provide regular reports to management on quality performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  6. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action:
    • Lead investigations into quality issues, conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying problems.
    • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Conduct training programs to ensure all relevant personnel understand and adhere to quality standards and procedures.
    • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards related to automotive quality.
    • Ensure that the organization maintains compliance with all applicable quality and safety requirements.
  2. Leadership Responsibilities:
    • Manage and lead a small quality control team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture focused on achieving quality objectives.
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination within the quality control team and with other departments.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem-solving methods, such as fishbone diagrams and/or 8D, and implementing successful countermeasures.
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, and similar.
  • Proven experience creating and implementing a quality control program.
  • Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques.
  • High proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent oral, written, editing, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to take constructive feedback.
  • Willingness to work independently or with a team.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field; additional certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) are a plus.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a quality assurance role in a similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methodologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.


Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, office equipment, telephone, etc.
  • Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Sit for long periods working at a desk, boardroom table, or a computer.
  • Walk long distances across the shop floor to communicate and gather information as needed.
  • Must be able to navigate through various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Occasional reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Ability to work long hours in hot or cold temperatures.
