Position Grade:     E-3

Position Status:     Regular, Full Time


POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for patrolling all Tribal lands including rented, leased and owned. Knowledgeable of all tribal properties and the rules and guidelines set by the Colusa Indian Community Council. Patrol areas to prevent and discover crime and to enforce the protection of all individuals and assets on any and all tribal lands.


The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise and review the work of the tribal patrol liaisons on multiple shifts;
  2. Report to Public Safety Board;
  3. Assist in providing interpretation of departmental policies and procedures;
  4. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems;
  5. Patrol work sites, assigned locations, tribal property and/or other property the Tribal Government is leasing, renting and farming;
  6. Communicate efficiently and effectively with Tribal Community and the public;
  7. Work well with the government agencies such as the Department of Fish and Game, and local governing agencies;
  8. Immediately report suspicious or unusual activities to proper authorities; 
  9. Ensure all equipment used by the Patrolling Department is functioning as intended;
  10. Produce organized and clear reports;
  11. Maintain daily log sheets and completes incident reports to note all unusual activity and/or employee behavior; Maintain mileage logs;
  12. Required to conduct business in a professional and courteous manner at all times;
  13. Maintain high confidentiality standards at all times.  Is required to sign a confidentiality statement upon acceptance of employment;
  14. May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensing:
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have valid California Driver’s License
  • Required to provide recent DMV printout, reflecting the last five (5) years


SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES: Tribal Patrol Staff


ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of hunting seasons and regulations of Indian lands.
  • Must have thorough understanding of the rules, policies, procedures, internal controls and various Penal Codes, for community patrol and outreach.
  • Strong PC knowledge.
  • Efficient and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Must pass initial drug screen and random drug test conducted thereafter.
  • Performs maintenance on all equipment used by the Patrolling Department.
  • Is knowledgeable of Tribal lands and properties.
  • Knowledgeable of all laws and rules set by the Department of Fish and Game, and other governing agencies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & able to multi-task. Flexibility and ability to assist others when needed.
  • Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Will be required to stand, sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel for significant periods of time.
  • Able to work indoors/outdoors year round;
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to (25-50) pounds.

  • May be exposed to various seasonal elements such as rain, wind, cold and heat in excess of 90&degree;.
