Medical Records Clerk/CSR

Key Responsibilities:
- Outbound Phone Calls:
- Initiate outbound phone calls to healthcare providers, facilities, and other relevant sources to verify and update medical records.
- Clearly and effectively communicate with various parties to gather necessary information.
- Data Entry:
- Enter accurate and up-to-date information into the electronic medical records system.
- Ensure the integrity and completeness of data through meticulous attention to detail.
- Record Verification:
- Verify the accuracy of medical records by cross-referencing information obtained through phone calls with existing records.
- Identify and rectify any discrepancies in the data.
- Confidentiality:
- Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with healthcare privacy regulations and organizational policies.
- Maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism when dealing with patient records.
- Documentation:
- Document all interactions and updates made to medical records in a clear and concise manner.
- Generate reports as required and assist in maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, including medical staff, to ensure accurate and complete medical record information.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in medical records management or related fields is a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical records or healthcare administrative role preferred.
- Strong data entry experience with a high level of accuracy.
- Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills for effective outbound phone calls.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in data entry and computer skills, including knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws and regulations, such as HIPAA, is advantageous.
- Meticulous: Possesses a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Dependable: Demonstrates reliability and consistency in performing tasks.
- Ethical: Upholds the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- Proactive: Takes initiative to identify and address issues promptly.
- Team Player: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
