Job DescriptionJob Description

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller. This person assists with the monthly close process. This role also supports in preparing MD&A, Financial Statements, and other presentations as needed. This position offers the opportunity to work with all areas of the business through a variety of responsibilities. This is an exempt position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in generation of financial statements and MD&A for review
  • Assist in the monthly close process
  • Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Post journal entries and review postings of junior staff
  • Perform monthly estimates and accruals
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations
  • Assist in coordination with outside accountants for the timely filing and payment of all tax returns
  • Assist in audit preparation
  • Maintain accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and up-to-date written procedures for all assigned areas of responsibility
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required
  • Support and/or lead projects across multiple functional areas
  • Cross train and coverage as required in department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting software packages
  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems, desire to take on advanced tasks
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial information to senior leadership
  • Ability to understand business activities with a broader view than just the finance function
  • Desire to learn about the industry and support the goals of the organization

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience
