Schedule: Monday - Friday, between hours of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Job Summary:

The Service Technician is responsible for supporting operational areas by auditing incoming purchase orders, Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs), existing inventory, shipping / receiving, testing repairable customer Multi-layer boards (MLBs), processing teardowns and production orders as well as off-site customer hardware installations (i.e., flat panels, projectors, etc.). Success in this role involves adaptability and flexibility to complete a variety of job tasks including hardware diagnostics, command-line operations in ChromeOS and Windows, warranty entitlements, and manufacturer part numbers.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • As assigned, perform the following tasks:
    1. Purchase Order (PO) Audits
    2. Audit / Diagnose / Repair customer devices upon receipt at facility
    3. Collaborate with internal partners to provide device or project status and updates
    4. RMA Customer Returns
    5. Device (laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, etc.) Teardowns
    6. Production order fulfillment according to customer specifications
    7. Packaging/Shipping motherboards for Repair
    8. Test / Check repaired motherboards and inventory parts
    9. Image / Autopilot of Customer Devices
    10. Audit / Clean items for online sales
    11. Install interactive flat panel (IFP) and technology solutions at customer sites
  • Component-level Micro-soldering/MLB Repair:
    1. Component Repair and Installation: Perform various types of component level repairs, including soldering and de-soldering of SMT components, IC packages, BGAs, connectors, etc. Install and inspect electronic parts as per instructions and specifications.
    2. Quality Control and Standards: Adhere to IPC soldering standards and perform quality control checks to ensure satisfactory functionality of each part. Achieve company standards around repair timeliness and quality.
  • Effectively and efficiently work to achieve successful individual production output Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate as part of a larger team to aid in achieving team-level KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, communicating them to team leadership.
  • When problems occur, work with department supervisor to identify their root causes and implement or recommend changes to prevent them from occurring in the future.
  • All other duties assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; 1+ year technical training from technical program or college preferred
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience repairing Chrome and Windows-based hardware
  • Hardware certifications such as A+ and ACMT are preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software (Infor CloudSuite), ideal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of soldering process and techniques, OR willingness and ability to learn them in an effective manner
  • Experience using Terminal Commands in ChromeOS to troubleshoot and reset software to factory defaults, preferred
  • Experience using test components to accurately diagnose complex component-level hardware failures
  • Broad technical knowledge of Chromebooks, Mac, and Windows-based computer systems, including parts, models, functionality, and Operating Systems

Essential and Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • When assisting other teams, prolonged periods of standing work at benches, bending, and/or repetitive movement
  • Occasional travel to local or regional customer sites, depending on project site need
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 65 pounds on occasion
