Position Title: Director of Human Resources

Employment Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote (Anywhere, USA)

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: CHRO

Compensation: $100,000+


Role Expectations

The Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience as an HR Director for a multistate employer with 250-500+ employees along with solid working knowledge and experience overseeing all HR business functions. 


Role Requirements 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Experience: 5+ years of supervisory HR experience, preferably managing/directing all HR business functions
  • Background Check: Demonstration of a clear state and federal criminal history


Role Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; engagement & culture; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent acquisition & management; productivity, recognition, and morale;  and training and development
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff within the HR department
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Collaborates with senior leadership and department heads to understand the organization's goals, strategies, and pain points related to staffing, recruiting, and retention
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) - BambooHR
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff
  • Leads employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of changes, trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Works to support/enhance current talent acquisition strategies and processes to grow the pipeline of qualified candidates
  • Fully implements the organization's new competency model and aligns all applicable materials, processes and procedures
  • Creates/manages new  external partnerships 
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensures and more.
  • Limited travel may be required 
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience managing the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment/sourcing through separation/offboarding
  • Advanced understanding of sourcing techniques and tools (e.g. ATS, job boards, social networks)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ALL business functions within HR (SHRM-CP certification is a big plus)
  • Solid understanding of multistate and federal employment laws and compliance 
  • Advanced understanding and experience with HRIS (BambooHR a plus)
  • Self-starter who will take initiative, think outside the box, and effectively collaborate at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects/timelines/goals
  • Commitment to excellence and confidentiality
  • Highly proficient and comfortable with technology (Google Workspace, ATS/HRIS, Payroll, etc.)
  • Prefer candidates that have experience with BambooHR/ Trax, and EASE


Work Environment and Physical Demands

The remote/virtual work environment must be private and free from distractions such as other people and/or pets. Due to the sensitive nature of many HR functions, and the information that is accessible in this position, a private and secure network connection must be utilized. The use of unsecure public network connections is prohibited while performing any function of the job. The physical requirements for this position predominantly include sitting/standing for long periods of time, close vision through the use of a computer screen, and extensive keyboarding.
