Qualifications: Completion of a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or other human service field and one year of experience working in a day treatment facility. A bachelor’s degree in a non-related field and three years of experience working with similar programs for seriously emotionally disturbed children. A VALID Virginia Driver’s License is required for employment.

 

All employees working in the capacity of TDT Counselor or Intensive In-home Counselor must be certified with the Virginia Board of Counseling. “Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-C)” refers to a clinician in the human services field who is trained and experienced in providing psychiatric or mental health services to individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis. In the Commonwealth of Virginia, authorized professionals and minimal qualifications for a QMHP-C are as follows:
1. Physician: a doctor of medicine or osteopathy licensed in Virginia;
2. Psychiatrist: a doctor of medicine or osteopathy, specializing in psychiatry and licensed in Virginia;
3. Psychologist: an individual with a master’s degree in psychology from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience;
4. Social Worker: an individual with a master’s or bachelor’s degree from a school of social work accredited or approved by the Council on Social Work Education with at least one year of clinical experience;
5. Registered nurse (RN): a registered nurse licensed in Virginia with at least one year of clinical experience;
6. Mental Health Worker:
• An individual with a bachelor’s degree in human services, a related field, or other degrees deemed equivalent to those described from an accredited college and with at least one year of clinical experience; OR
• A Registered Psychiatric Rehabilitation Provider (RPRP) registered with the International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation  Services (IAPSRS) as of January 1, 2001; OR
• An individual with at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an unrelated field EXCEL INTERVENTION THERAPEUTIC SERVICES, LLC. with an associate’s degree in a human services field and who has at least three years’ clinical
experience; OR
• An individual with at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and certification from the International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (IAPSRS) as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP); OR
• An individual with at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an unrelated field that includes at least 15 semester credits (or equivalent) in the human services field and who has at least three years clinical experience; OR
• Four years of clinic experience working directly with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.

Clinical experience means providing direct services to individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or receiving gerontology or special education services. It includes supervised internships, practicums, and field experience.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide for the coordination of admission procedures for each client.
• Implement an individualized behavior modification program.
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
• Develop and implement all therapeutic group activities.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures and complete other tasks deemed necessary for the
successful operation of the program.
• Complete all required documentation, including, but not limited to, the tracking of all
individualized behavior programs and related paperwork, i.e. (point totals, outcome tracks,
discharge planning).
• Provide direct supervision of youth counselors within the classroom.
• Notes are due into the electronic record system within (24) hours of the session.
• Notes must be satisfactory and approved to generate billing and compensation.

• Complete Quarterly Reports, Service Authorization and discharges
