Summary/Objective:

Members of the Finishing department are charged with optimizing the profitability of Flower City Group by performing to the highest level of efficiency in the following task categories: job acceptance, make ready, job run, job completion and maintenance. Through these activities, cutter helper, folder helper, high die helper, folder gluer helper, strip pack helper, stitcher helper and drill machine, the employee will ensure that the highest level of productivity is consistently achieved.


B-Shift schedule (3:30pm - 12:00am)

Essential Functions:

  • Receive job instructions from machine operator.
  • Review press & bindery ticket to completely understand work to be done.
  • Set up work area (e.g. boxes, labels, skids, etc.).
  • Note any defects in the printed material by reviewing any quality tags.
  • Gather or collect material from the machine. Feed machine if necessary, checking quality of work often.
  • Pack material per operator or bindery tickets’ instructions.
  • Complete load tag.
  • Bring to shipping.
  • Fill out bindery ticket.
  • Add in job tracking computer.
  • Clean area surrounding machine.
  • Immediately alert Senior Operator or Finishing Manager of any machine or safety problems.
  • Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in investigating problems.
  • Respects the confidentiality of company information.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationship with supervisor.
  • Makes best use of time during the day.
  • Consistently shows ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
  • Performs all duties in an independent manner with little supervision.
  • Performs all other task/duties as may be assigned by their supervisor.
  • Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned - assists others as needed.

Competencies:

  • Machine operation
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn new things.
  • Able to provide constructive feedback and creative solutions to problems.
  • Able to read a mechanical drawing.
  • Must be computer knowledgeable.
  • Must be able to perform simple programing.


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge with measurements
  • Ability to read blueprints.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
