Description

Decypher is seeking Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal candidates to support the DHA MQS contract at Ft. Bliss - William Beaumont Army Meical Center. The successful candidate will possess the required education, skills, and experience called for in the contract as described below.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).

• Provide care for infants and their families in the Delivery Room, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Step Down Nursery, and Special Care Nursery, and other hospital areas as needed under the direct supervision of the Medical Director.

• Assist in the case management of the most complex neonatal patient through assessing, monitoring and evaluating care, i.e. disease process, comorbidities and other ongoing issues.

• Provide consultation and follow-up on a select group of neonatal patients with major problems such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances, ventilation issues, anemia, jaundice, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) and/or other unusual complications.

• As the neonatal advanced practice nursing subject matter expert, actively participates in discharge planning teams, clinical pathway development and implementation.

• Performs healthcare delivery systems analysis and provides recommendations to other healthcare providers 10 regarding diagnostic specific clinical pathway events to facilitate efficient, effective, quality patient care. • As necessary, refers patients and or family members to health professionals in other fields, i.e., social work, dietary, chaplains, psychiatry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation.

• Explore methods and processes to reduce resource consumption ensuring that the patient receives quality care at the most appropriate level.

• Generate statistical reports regarding access to and outcome of care provided for the purposes of process improvement and ensuring optimal patient outcomes and appropriate resource utilization. This involves computation, analysis, tracing/trending, graphing and preparation of summary management reports.

• Assist the critically ill neonatal patient and family to cope with an existing problem or situation.

• Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.

• Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.

• Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.

• Document all outpatient encounters with-in 72 hours and inpatient encounters on the date of service or otherwise as in accordance with applicable policies and directives.

• Be rated satisfactory minimum on MGMA. Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

Required Education, Experience and Skill

Degree/Education: Master’s degree in nursing.

Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work and Emotional (STABLE)

Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions. Plus, a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner during the last 3 years.

Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.

US Citizenship and active NACI clearance required.
