Job Summary:
As the Controller on the Finance and Accounting team, your focus will be on utilizing accounting and business processes to maintain accurate short-term cash forecasts. You'll be responsible for ensuring all accounts are fully funded by managing vendor onboarding, procurement, accounts payable, and daily cash position. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our company and contributing to our mission of clean energy transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize accounting and business processes to maintain accurate short-term cash forecasts.
- Ensure that all accounts are fully funded by managing vendor onboarding, procurement, accounts payable, and daily cash position.
- Complete and thorough control of the cash flow for project financing and investor distributions.
- Prepare financial statements that are thorough, accurate, and timely in compliance with GAAP.
- Take charge of the annual audit process as necessary, keeping management informed of important issues.
- Create and manage an internal control system for financial and accounting transactions.
- Keep up with the necessary schedules and records for tax filings and outside audits.
- Full financial statements and analysis every week, every month, every quarter, and every year, including control of all accounting closure procedures, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee the migration of corporate GL to a new software platform as well as all other software needed to run the finance and accounting operations.
- Keep track of spending and income versus the budget and explain deviations.
- Assist project teams with ongoing cost control, and establish and monitor financial KPIs.
- Actively look for possibilities to enhance workflows, systems, and procedures so that the company's accounting infrastructure may expand.
- Drive professional growth and development by setting and achieving clear objectives in alignment with organizational goals.
- Promote and embody the company's core values, fostering a culture of alignment and commitment among team members.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications:
- 7-10+ years of experience in finance or accounting with 8+ years of managerial experience, preferably in renewable energy.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar subject.
- CPA credential.
- Expert in overseeing accounting, tax, treasury, financial reporting, and budget management processes with the capacity for direct involvement.
- Prior experience setting up and managing the accounting for project companies, special purpose entities, and LLCs.
- Proven analytical abilities and the capacity to distill complex analysis for important decision-makers.
- Proven managerial skills, including the ability to recruit, develop, and motivate team members.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
