Job Description

Use Your Strengths at Wellmark as a Team Leader Large Group Account Management  

Reporting to our Director of Group Sales & Account Retention, you will lead and develop sales staff who are responsible for retention and sales activity, including Health and Ancillary Services. 

As a leader of others, you will directly impact the success, growth, and development of team members by leading change, setting clear expectations, coaching to each team member’s strengths, and fostering a team-centric work environment. Being a role model in behaviors that demonstrate Wellmark’s Leader Success Expectations and inclusion are essential. 

As the owner of the team’s assigned book of business, you will manage retention results by ensuring high quality services and solutions are delivered consistently throughout each contract or policy year and overseeing team activities for the assigned book of business. To be successful in this role, you will effectively develop and manage relationships with Wellmark’s external customers and consultants, along with internal stakeholders and partners.  

 Our strongest candidates have extensive industry experience, specifically experience in large group health insurance in Iowa. They are also skilled strategists, with a strong business acumen and who can think critically about the business, finding new and innovative ways to drive it. They are mission driven – they believe health care and the member experience can be better, and they are passionate about finding new ways to influence this work.    

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or direct and equivalent work experience. 
  • 4+ years of related work experience in Sales, Account Management, or related role where consultative selling skills were demonstrated. Prior management of complex segments or plan designs with increasing levels of accountability is required – e.g., assigned to key/major accounts or lines of business. 
  • 1+ year of effective leadership experience in a medium to high complexity organization or equivalent work experience typically gained through a combination of project or informal leadership that demonstrates knowledge of work processes, products and services, and leadership competencies. 
  • Strong consultation skills with the ability to influence decisions. Must be able to understand the needs of others, ask meaningful questions, distill information into relevant insights, and develop actionable solutions. 
  • Ability to establish ongoing, collaborative relationships with internal/external stakeholders. Strong conflict resolution skills. 
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts across all levels of an organization, including senior leadership; strong presentation skills, including development and delivery. 
  • Proficiency with data and ability to identify issues or trends, and develop solutions. 
  • Valid Driver’s License with moderate travel
