Our client Contracting Services is a full-service heavy civil contracting firm that offers a wide variety of commercial construction services to various corporate, government, and educational sectors. We're seeking for a bright, active, and detail-oriented estimator.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with the customer on all changes in scope, inquiries, or clarifications about the work during the bidding process.
  • When required, use prior projects of a comparable sort to compare costs.
  • Show a solid awareness of the scope for the specific talents offered.
  • Serves as a resource for project management by providing cost information and creating cost estimates for modifications to the work during various construction phases.
  • Prepare, issue, receive, and assess bids and price from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Calculate the amount of material required using mathematical calculations that take into account width, length, depth, and density.
  • During the award / start-up phase, serves as a resource for project management to address any difficulties surrounding what was included in the estimate, including materials and building procedures.
  • Deliver proposals on time for project completion.
  • As needed, review the budget and project profitability status and targets with supervisors and the project team. Seeking feedback on remedial strategies to continually improve the identification and accuracy of cost data.
  • Assembles bid files, which include all development information used to prepare estimates.
  • Maintain current and correct contact information for suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Other estimating responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Capable of reading and understanding comprehensive building plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Obtain a bachelor's degree in construction management or similar experience.
  • Must have US work authorization. Sponsorship is not available.
  • A minimum of four years similar experience is necessary.
  • Experience in conceptual estimating and pre-construction services is essential.
  • Possess good writing and verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with the field, management, and clients.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced atmosphere while maintaining composure and meeting deadlines.
  • A thorough grasp of the construction business, including AIA billings, submittals, RFI's, change orders, and project scheduling, is a must.
