Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of operations in the manufacturing department including shop floor inspections, production scheduling, and work center assignments.
- Perform first piece inspections and report any defective material to supervisor(s).
- Use Syteline and all other Kingsbury software to schedule jobs and communicate daily production schedule.
- Participate in in-person interviews for shop open positions.
- Train and instruct team members on the proper use of equipment and processes.
- Repair parts and patch babbitted materials.
- Maintain Special Process Certifications (ex: Babbitt Repair).
- Assist supervisor(s) with new hire onboarding.
- Act as a primary point of contact for all team members.
- Assist Material Mover by moving materials around shop as needed.
- Participate in the weekend supervisor rotation.
- Provide insight to supervisor(s) for team member performance reviews.
- Maintain working knowledge in Syteline and Vault to assist supervisor(s).
- Perform all duties of a Machinist III.
- Serve as back-up to the 3rd shift Shop Supervisor routinely and 2nd shift Supervisor on occasion.
- Work under and adheres to all applicable ISO-9000 system level procedures and work instructions.
- Act as an ambassador for safe working practices and a champion for safety programs.
- May be required to multi-task and perform additional functions in addition to primary workload when circumstances permit.
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required, including safety training and team huddles.
- Monitor and maintain a safe work environment.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Experience: 8+ years machining experience using mills, lathes, and/or grinders.
- Education: Journeyman Machinist and/or Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
- Preferred Experience: G and M code and Mazatrol programming. Completed First Aid course, OSHA 10- or 30-hour course, and Forklift certification.
