Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the operations of major facility systems (in particular: heating, AC, plumbing, etc.) to provide efficient and effective operations.
  • Performs routine repairs and obtains proper certification, when required.
  • Maintains open file of emergency systems (plumbing, electrical, fire, sewage, etc.).
  • Oversees and maintains parish vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs minor maintenance of the rectory, church/chapel, parish life center and/or other buildings. Performs light carpentry work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed. Recommends when contract work may be required to complete a task or project. Meet with contractors at initiation and conclusion of projects.
  • Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up chairs and tables as requested, hauls and move items and picks up parts or other equipment as requested by parish and school staff.
  • Ensures the collection and disposal of recycling, trash and garbage for all facilities.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies for lighting and cleaning, and orders additional supplies as requested.
  • Responds in a timely manner to requests from the administration, staff and volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • On-call availability for emergencies.
  • Previous experience in minor repair work in carpentry and painting.
  • Previous experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing and waxing.
  • Previous experience maintaining grounds, parking lots and roads.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, climb ladders, walk, bend for extended periods of time, and lift heavy items .
