Summary

Classroom Facilitators are essential to supporting our Bridge’s mission to foster the education, acculturation, and well-being of newly arrived and first-generation children and their families. To successfully fulfill this role, you need a student and teacher mindset: Interested in learning and willing to guide. As a Classroom Facilitator you will work with your team in the implementation of Oxbridge’s curriculum, as well as ensuring a quality after-school program and cultivating LERD (Love, Education, Respect and Diversity) values at all times. Classroom Facilitators will work in classrooms of 25-35 students (this varies by students’ age and grade), with their team and the support of incredible volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a passion for working with newly arrived families and students and an eagerness to help them succeed.
  • Experience working with English Language Learners
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial, and cultural   backgrounds.
  • Ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van (Not required but a plus)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Passionate about education and for working with children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with others.
  • Flexible, positive, organized, and energetic.
  • Willingness to be open to learning and implementing Trauma Informed Care practices.
  • Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire (Provided by ourBRIDGE) and re-certify as required.
  • Able to work Monday- Fridays following the CMS school calendar including some weekends and evenings as needed.

 

Essential Functions

The individual must develop a strong understanding of company goals and mission including the organization's functionality to effectively perform in this role and as an ourBRIDGE strategic storyteller. Conveying a positive voice, brand, and strategy of ourBRIDGE to internal and external audiences via various communication channels and topics is vitally important. 

  • Uphold LERD Values (Love, Education, Respect, Diversity) at all times to foster positive relationships with ourBRIDGE staff, students, families, volunteers, and community.
  • Ensure all students have access to high-quality, inclusive, after school program activities.
  • Plan daily activities during planning/ preparation time in coordination with the classroom team.
  • Participate fully in day-to-day activities with students.
  • Provide academic support to students on homework and projects.
  • Provide support in Community Circles considering safety, student rapport, preparation for activities, student engagement, and relevant announcements.
  • Participate fully with execution of Fun Friday activities.
  • Take accurate classroom daily attendance and meal count to stay in compliance with 21st CCLC and Child Nutrition Program.
  • Maintain cleanliness of classrooms and shared center spaces before students arrive and after dismissal.
  • Ensure policies and procedures outlined in the ourBRIDGE Way Manual are upheld by staff and communicate any discrepancies to the Program Manager.
  • Communicate with the Program Manager and classroom team about upcoming and recurring partnerships happening at the center including club day coordination and volunteer participation.
  • Demonstrate leadership and initiative to problem solve student and team conflict.
