Wage/Hour Status: Starting at $30/hr
Job Location: Olancha, CA
Coordinates with: Managers and Project Engineers


Primary Purpose:

The Travel Field Engineer will independently manage and organize assigned tasks for the NHD Project. This role provides technical support to the Project Engineer, Project Manager, department head, and other team members as needed. The engineer will oversee construction activities, material tracking, cement grout quality control, and daily as-built documentation using AutoCAD. This is a full-time, field-based position requiring both day and night shifts, with no remote work options. Some intercity travel may be required.


Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in relevant areas such as management and scheduling control are a plus.

Special Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project) and other relevant software.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
  • Understanding of office protocols, routines, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Competence in using survey equipment and verifying control points.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Technical understanding, process improvement, and documentation skills.
  • Safety management expertise.
  • Proficiency in CAD, drawings, and design.
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license for the state of Texas.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Records, Reports, and Scheduling:

  1. Prepare correspondence, forms, daily reports, and presentations as needed for the Project Manager.
  2. Oversee and maintain control of project documentation.
  3. Respond to inquiries and prepare reports related to the project’s scope and timeline.
  4. Maintain and update project records, coordinating closely with the Project Engineer.
  5. Assist the Project Manager/Superintendent in ensuring the quality of grout at the batch plant, creating as-built drawings in AutoCAD, and generating daily reports for the construction site.
  6. Measure specific gravity and temperature of cement grout at the batch plant as required.
  7. Prepare and submit Project Data Books.

Other Responsibilities:

8. Coordinate with Project Leads and collaborate with staff.

9. Participate in daily safety meetings.

10. Attend site progress meetings.

11. Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and of high quality as per the responsibilities listed above.

12. Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.

13. Support site survey efforts as needed.

14. Maintain confidentiality of project information.

15. Assist with the day-to-day opening and closing of the project.

16. Support the Project Engineer with assigned tasks.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including computers and peripherals, as well as survey and lab equipment.

Posture:
Prolonged sitting with occasional climbing, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion:
Frequent keyboarding, mouse use, and occasional reaching. Includes site walks and sample preparation tasks.

Lifting:
Occasional lifting and carrying of items less than 25 pounds.

Environment:
Work may involve prolonged or irregular hours and exposure to extreme weather conditions. The role may require working near moving machinery and frequent inspection of ongoing construction sites. Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. (Please inform if color vision is an issue.)

Mental Demands:
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
