Accountant – General Ledger

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)

Salary and Benefits: $31.41 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

Role Summary:
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant – General Ledger to join their finance team. This contact-to-hire position starts on 08/05 and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our client's financial integrity and operational success. Initially on-site, the role transitions to a hybrid model after 6-8 weeks, pending a successful review. You will assist the Supervisor, General Ledger with preparing general ledger entries and reconciling general ledger accounts for designated areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • AA/AS in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of General Ledger experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards

  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations

  • Expertise in financial analysis and reporting

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PeopleSoft

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Supervisor, General Ledger in General Ledger activities

  • Maintain and develop amortization schedules for assigned areas

  • Review financials for missing invoices related to assigned areas, including utilities, telephony, and pre-paid expenses

  • Perform Balance Sheet and Income Statement analysis and reconciliation of general ledger activity

  • Prepare entries to the general ledger and review for reliability, propriety, and compliance with GAAP

  • Develop and maintain all manual procedures and documentation in this functional area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required
