We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented MRO/Service Buyer to join our procurement team. The MRO/Service Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies necessary to support the company's operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiation skills, the ability to build strong supplier relationships, and a thorough understanding of MRO purchasing processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Source and purchase MRO supplies including but not limited to spare parts, tools, equipment, and consumables required for maintenance, repair, and operations.
  2. Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and make purchasing decisions in accordance with company policies and budgetary constraints.
  3. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and identify new potential suppliers to ensure a diverse and reliable supply chain.
  4. Analyze inventory levels and usage patterns to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory while ensuring availability to meet operational needs.
  5. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to understand their MRO supply requirements and develop procurement strategies to support their needs.
  6. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of MRO supplies and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise.
  7. Monitor market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  8. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier contracts using procurement management software or systems.
  9. Develop and implement procedures and guidelines for MRO purchasing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  10. Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in cross-functional teams and contributing to process optimization projects.

To be a qualified candidate you must have the following:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. Proven experience as an MRO Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  3. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
  4. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to MRO purchasing is desirable.
  5. Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
Key to being successful in this role:
  1. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  2. Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  3. Familiarity with inventory management principles and techniques.
  4. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
