Job Title: Department Outreach & Project Coordinator

Department: Youth Empowerment Services Department (YES)

Reports To: Operations Manager, YES

Supervises: None

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay Grade: N5

Job Type: Full-time

AKBCU: No ICPA: Yes

General Functions:

The Department Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for engaging in outreach events throughout the Anchorage School District and the Municipality of Anchorage aimed at recruiting participants for Denelchin Lab programs. Additionally, this position will be responsible for supporting the Operations Manager in executing department-specific projects and collaborates closely with the Department Programs Coordinator, YES to streamline the enrollment process for YES participants.

Duties and Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Maintain continued awareness and knowledge of the Denelchin Lab programs; providing information and addressing typical inquiries.
  • Oversee the recruitment of participants across Denelchin Lab programs.
  • Work closely with the Department Programs Coordinator, YES to ensure participant enrollment in Delechin Lab programs.
  • Assist in preparing informational publications, marketing material, e-newsletters, etc.
  • In coordination with department leadership, develop and execute strategic plan for outreach initiatives.
  • Attend events for community outreach (e.g., CITC recruitment fairs, street fairs, volunteer fairs. etc.)
  • Participate in monthly Johnson O'Malley committee gatherings and contribute to the preparation of meeting notes for Johnson O'Malley program.
  • Submit and maintain required reports and documentation in compliance with all required aspects of organizational goals.
  • Engage in continuous professional development related to the implementation and support of the programs.
  • Attend appropriate staff, advisory, committee, council, and Board meetings.
  • Assist Operations Manager with special projects including the Native Youth Olympics.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with CITC staff and personnel and collaboration with program partners, community coalitions, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to regulation, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to all Denelchin Lab programs to enhance communication with participants and gain a deeper understanding of YES programs.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and assigned.

Minimum Core Competencies: CITC Values, Respectful Leadership, Professionalism, Emotion Intelligence, Problem Solving/Critical Thinking, Communication Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications and marketing, Education, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, Business Development or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two (2) years’ experience related to business management, communication, marketing, organizational outreach, and event management.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Travel for outreach events and training as needed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the social, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in an AK Native Corporation or AK Non-Profit setting and/or organization serving AN/AI people is strongly preferred.
