SummitWest Care: Our Story

SummitWest Care was developed as a non-profit, free-standing agency in 2002. Our community recognized the need for providing quality care in the home. SummitWest Care was designed to serve people in need of care in their home. Since our inception, SummitWest Care has served several thousand clients and families in Mesa County and we have had the support and donations from organizations such as St. Mary's Hospital, Rocky Mountain Health Plans and Hilltop. Because of our strong staff expertise and leadership and the profound belief that people deserve to heal at home, we have received several awards for quality and excellence in home health care service. Our clinicians have a long history of collaboration with area physicians to help their clients get well after premature birth, complicated orthopedic surgeries and chronic illnesses. We value education and staying on the cutting edge of procedures and techniques to support our clinicians to be aware and responsive to health care needs.

Day to day as a Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist at SummitWest Care, you'll play a vital role in assisting clients in their homes to restore and improve their abilities, fostering independence in their daily lives. You'll collaborate closely with our clinical team to ensure that each client's unique needs are met with empathy and care. Your contributions will extend beyond direct interaction, as you will be responsible for providing timely and complete documentation to track progress and outcomes effectively. This position allows you to make a meaningful impact while enjoying a flexible schedule that promotes work-life balance, all within a supportive and energetic culture.

To thrive as an Occupational Therapist at SummitWest Care, several essential skills and qualifications are necessary. A valid license to practice in the state of Colorado is a must, ensuring you meet professional standards while providing care. You'll also need a valid Driver's License and active auto insurance, as travel to clients' homes is a vital part of the role. Successful OTs possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with the clinical team and fostering trust with clients.

Additionally, problem-solving abilities are crucial for developing tailored strategies that support each client's journey toward independence. A deep sense of empathy is also imperative, as you work to enhance the quality of life for those you serve in a flexible and supportive environment.
