NUTRITION SERVICES - PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE (PART-TIME)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Food Executive Director the part-time Production Associate team members assist in preparation and delivery of the meals for our Food Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
  • Take and record the temperature of food and food storage areas
  • Operate packaging machinery
  • Pack and place food in refrigerators for storage or in trucks for transport.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Work a flexible part time schedule.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English
  • Some knowledge of food service and kitchen procedures is preferred.
  • Ages 18 and older.

WORK SCHEDULE:

The work schedules may vary per the workload for that day but the typical hours are Monday - Friday starting at either 7:30 am or 9:00 am and ending between 1 pm and 4 pm.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.
  • Ability to perform tasks that are repetitive
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and give consistent and accurate product
