Head Grower

 Job Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and oversee all aspects of the cultivation process, including propagation, planting, irrigation, nutrient management, pest management, pruning, harvesting, and drying/bucking/trimming.
  2. Develop and implement cultivation strategies and protocols to maximize crop yields, quality, and consistency.
  3. Monitor and maintain an ideal growing environment, including temperature, humidity, light levels, and air circulation, to promote healthy plant growth and minimize the risk of disease or pest infestation.
  4. Lead and supervise a team of cultivation staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure proper execution of cultivation tasks.
  5. Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory management system, including tracking the availability of seeds, clones, and other necessary supplies.
  6. Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including testing for potency, contaminants, and other quality parameters.
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the processing and operations teams, to ensure a smooth transition of harvested crops for further processing or distribution.
  8. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cultivation techniques, equipment, and industry best practices, and implement them as appropriate to improve efficiency and productivity.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation and records of cultivation activities, including crop cycles, plant health, and production data.
  10. Adhere to strict compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to cultivation practices and the handling of controlled substances.

Required Skills:

  1. In-depth knowledge of plant biology, horticulture, and cultivation techniques, with a strong understanding of the specific needs of cannabis plants.
  2. Proficient in the operation and maintenance of various cultivation equipment, such as irrigation systems, lighting systems, climate control systems, and trimming equipment.
  3. Ability to analyze and interpret data related to crop health, growth patterns, and yield to make informed decisions and adjustments to cultivation protocols.
  4. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues or challenges related to cultivation, such as nutrient deficiencies, pests, or diseases.
  6. Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  7. Knowledge of compliance requirements and regulations governing the cultivation of cannabis, including seed-to-sale tracking systems.
  8. Proficient in computer software and systems used in cultivation management, such as inventory management software and environmental control systems.

 Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a commercial cannabis cultivation facility.
  3. Extensive knowledge of cannabis cultivation techniques, genetics, and strain characteristics.
  4. Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing cannabis cultivation and the ability to maintain compliance.
  5. Strong understanding of best practices for indoor and greenhouse cultivation.
  6. Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
  7. Any additional certifications or training related to cannabis cultivation or horticulture would be advantageous.

 

 Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform physical labor and lift 50 pounds, work in warm/humid environments, work under bright lights, and work in dark areas with green supplemental lights.
