Job DescriptionJob Description

Isidore Newman School is seeking an enthusiastic, committed, mission aligned Head Varsity Golf Coach. This is a part-time position, with the season starting in late January and running through the middle of May. The position will require oversight throughout the year with a primary time commitment from late October through the middle of May.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferred for this position

The successful applicant will

  • Possess a solid understanding of the rules of golf as well as the LHSAA rules and regulations.
  • Possess excellent speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, management and leadership skills.
  • Be technologically savvy and computer literate.
  • Have an innate interest in helping students to experience academic, athletic, and social growth.
  • Be successful in working with teams and have a desire to work with students and educators at the Upper School level.

Responsibilities:

  • The Head Varsity Golf coach will serve as the program director for the entire program, girls and boys, providing oversight and alignment throughout the varsity program.
  • This position requires the ability to develop and implement practice plans, including tactical match plans while also administering in-match adjustments.
  • This person will also need to set high expectations for a well-established program while maintaining strong, healthy relationships with student-athletes, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • This person will also need to maintain and uphold a healthy and inclusive team culture.
  • This person will need to be aligned with the school's mission, core values, and guiding frameworks.

While it is encouraged that qualified applicants have previous coaching experience, previous coaching experience is not required. A qualified candidate should be a creative motivator, demonstrate effective communication skills, operate and lead with a positive coaching and communication style, and have an enthusiastic commitment and love for the game of golf.
