Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to operate various machines in the linear department, move material within the warehouse, and load and unload material from trucks and trailers.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follow the documented quality systems and processes to satisfy our customers’ needs.

· Examine and measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, templates, or rulers.
· Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
· Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines.
· Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
· Loads and unloads materials onto or from trailers and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
· Transports materials to or from storage or worksites to designated area, using a hand truck, electric dolly, overhead crane, forklift, or other device.
· Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
· Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials, cases, or other containers.
· Contribute to inventory control by performing inventory stock checks, cycle counts, and other inventory related duties.
· May assist Plant Manager or other Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed.
Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
· Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
· Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
· Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
· Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, overhead cranes, or vehicles.
· Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
· Handling and Moving Objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials.
· Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
· Safety and Security; Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety for the protection of people and property.
· Processing Information: Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
· Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, inspecting equipment and maintenance.
· Controlling Machines and Processes: Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
· Tools: Personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety glasses, etc.) tape measure, banding equipment, grinders, grease gun, air gun, and other applicable equipment.
Qualifications
· This position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 6 months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
Preferences
· Prior experience with forklifts and overhead cranes.
· Must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
· Demonstrate attention to detail.
· Experience in metal fabrication and manufacturing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Working Environment and Conditions
· Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and be able to communicate verbally and in writing and take direction. The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position, move about the buildings, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual will be performing physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and movement of the whole-body involving things such as lifting, balancing, moving, stooping, twisting, and handling of materials. The individual will frequently operate heavy machinery and use eye-hand coordination. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
