At Continent 8, we are currently expanding our team and looking for a dedicated individual to join us as a Data Center Technician and Logistics Coordinator based in Philadelphia, PA.


This role will bridge the responsibilities of a Data Center Technician with those of a Logistics Coordinator, supporting customer installations and overseeing logistics operations across our globally distributed data centers and network. – – This role is 100% in office located in Philadelphia, PA (Center City)

As a Data Center Technician and Logistics Coordinator you will be responsible for:


The Role


  • Technical and Logistics Support: Providing technical support to customers and coordinate the efficient flow of goods and materials throughout the supply chain. Troubleshooting IT infrastructure issues including servers, disks, and network cards.
  • Installation and Configuration: Installing, moving, cabling, and configuring servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Coordinating shipments with carriers to ensure smooth transportation and timely delivery.
  • Operational Management: Performing periodic tasks such as inventory checks, power consumption readings, and shipment tracking.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records related to logistics and transportation.
  • Customer and Internal Support: Liaising with network engineers, system administrators, and project managers on various projects.
  • Processing  internal customer orders to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Compiling with all legal obligations and company policies.
  • Assuring quality of received hardware products and coordinate with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Coordinating and liaise with all IT staff, senior management, product teams, and third-party business partners or vendors.
  • Assuring quality of received hardware products and equipment, implementing policies of goods inspections on receipt and coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records related to logistics and transportation, including shipping documents, customs documentation, invoices, and other relevant records.
  • Tracking shipments and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Assisting to Identify and resolve any issues or obstacles related to logistics services provided.
  • Assisting in the implementation and enforcement of logistics and shipping policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • The role’s responsibility will be 85% Data Center Technician and 15% Logistics duties


 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:



  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in logistics coordination or a similar role, and experience as a Data Center Technician.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts, server, storage & networking hardware, and Data Centre critical infrastructure (UPS/Generators/HVAC).
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Office, UNIX, and Cisco Systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with teams and stakeholders in multiple locations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights and lift server & network hardware regularly.
