The Production/Extraction Lead role will oversee extraction, blending, and packaging production, ensuring efficiency, timeliness, and adherence to quality standards. This role involves hands-on management in a highly automated food processing facility, ensuring food safety and quality compliance.

This is a 2nd shift position with hours from 3 PM - 11:30 PM (Monday - Friday).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Ohio plant leadership team.
  • Set objectives, develop plans, and review plant performance.
  • Manage and develop team members, ensuring production schedules are met and addressing performance issues with HR.
  • Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and solve production-related issues.
  • Control spending based on production volume changes.
  • Support safety initiatives and participate in the Safety Committee.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager on production performance and quality issues.
  • Lead by example and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Optimize manpower, equipment, and facilities for efficient production.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SQF, and customer standards in collaboration with the Quality Department.
  • Provide leadership and developmental guidance to direct reports.

Extraction and Packaging Specific Responsibilities:

  • Set up and manage blending, extraction, and filtration processes, completing necessary documentation.
  • Operate equipment safely and hygienically following process procedures and guidelines.
  • Calibrate and monitor instruments and clean equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot process deviations and perform minor maintenance.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Complete sanitation schedules and maintain detailed records.
  • Package products following specifications and ensure proper PPE usage.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and remaining flexible under pressure.
  • Follow sanitary guidelines for CIP and cleaning, and complete batch sheets.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, industrial management, business, or related fields preferred.
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of flavor or food ingredient manufacturing, with proficiency in GMP.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems, with preference for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
  • Packaging experience in other industries preferred.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Chemical experience is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to work shift hours and overtime.
  • Sit and reach tow motor experience is a plus.
