Reports to: Vice President of Marketing & Development

Status: Exempt, Salaried

The Director of Philanthropy works with various organizations to secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and donations. This position will take the lead role in fundraising planning and strategy as well as having a leadership role in event planning and maintaining and developing donor relationships. The Director of Philanthropy advances the company's initiatives through actively seeking partnerships to further the mission of Sayre Christian Village.

Position Purpose

  • Researches grant opportunities and collaborates with the VP of Marketing & Development to secure funding.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of Sayre Christian Village’s mission and goals to effectively communicate to the giving community. Ability to convey SCV’s story in a way that influences philanthropic giving.
  • Establishes a meaningful budget for philanthropic campaigns. Using historical data and current trends, forecasts fundraising projections for annual Gala event, annual day of giving, memorial giving, and pop-up fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Analyzes fundraising outcomes to determine effectiveness for future projects.
  • Partners with the VP of Marketing & Development to promote fundraising through a variety of communication channels including print and electronic media, advertisements, and digital marketing outreach.
  • Manages fundraising efforts including event swag and acquiring silent auction donations.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with existing business and individual donors. Proactively identifies and develops new sources of financial support to meet annual fundraising goals, primarily through execution of special event fundraisers, sponsorships, business partnerships, and grants.
  • Builds and nurtures current relationships through a series of personal visits, calls, meetings, and events with the goal of identifying and securing Transformational Giving opportunities.
  • Strategizes and benchmarks progress, providing regular reporting to the VP of Marketing & Development.
  • Engages with the SCV staff in the cultivation/solicitation of internal fundraising programs on campus.
  • Coordinates volunteer relationships with Life Enrichment Director in areas that help nurture relationships beyond volunteerism.
  • Utilizes and maintains administrative systems. These include program databases, contact management and reporting systems. Responsible for entering data, working with the data, and maintaining reports. Recommends new systems as needed.


Qualifications & Skills

BS/BA with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in philanthropy fundraising preferred. Proven track record of success in developing, building, and managing corporate partnerships resulting in increased funding to the mission.

  • Experience researching and applying to donation programs and grant opportunities available through local, state, and federal programs.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously and efficiently while maintaining flexibility to pivot quickly as needed.
  • Highly proficient at working within a variety of operating systems including Windows, Microsoft Office suite, and Google platforms.
  • Experience planning large-scale events and fundraisers.
  • Ability to cultivate interest in Sayre Christian Village’s mission and vision.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Ability to take initiative and identify projects and tasks which require development.
  • Ability to operate both independently and within cross-functional teams.
