Requirements for Nurse Unit Manager: LPN or Registered Nurse:

  • Must have a current & valid RN or LPN license in The State of Kentucky


Responsibilities for Nurse Unit Manager:


Conducts the Comprehensive Resident Assessment (CRA) on each resident on his/her unit according to federal requirements and facility policy


Coordinates the development, review and revision of the interdisciplinary plan of care enduring that it meets the medical, physical and psychosocial needs of the resident identified in the CRA.


Ensures the Nurse Assistant Plan of Care is current and accurate


Maintains oversight of the consistent implementation of the residents plan of care


Coordinates resident care conference with the interdisciplinary team members, resident and residents legal representative (as appropriate)


Conducts assessment of each resident per facility for:

Falls (as appropriate)

Physical Restrains (as appropriate)

Self Administration of Medications (as appropriate)

Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) status

Behavior Symptoms (as appropriate)

Psychotropic Medication Use (as appropriate)

Side-rail Utilization


Daily monitoring of resident(s) status via:

Review of lab results

Review of incident reports

Review of 24 hour reports

Review of Physician orders

Review of Intake and Output records

Review of Food and Fluid consumption records

Review of Skin Assessment documentation (as assigned)

Mealtime observation/assistance as required


Participates in residents discharge planning (as appropriate)


Ensures prompt follow through with the recommendations of the Registered Dietician, Pharmacist and Licensed Therapists


Assures prompt notification of the residents attending physician and legal representative when the resident has experienced an unusual occurrence and/or ANY change in condition per facility policy
