Position Summary:  

Story Construction is looking for a creative and team-oriented Project Architect to join their design team You will support architectural design and project coordination, working closely with Sr. Architects to deliver cohesive, high-quality design solutions. You will work cross-functionally with design, estimating, and Story project teams and report to the Senior Architect. 


Summary of Duties:  

  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, design consultants, project management teams, and other stakeholders. 
  • Assist the Sr. Architect with Submittal and RFI review.
  • Lead progress meetings with the Owner and design team and issue minutes.
  • Coordinate with estimating team to ensure budgetary compliance as design progresses. 
  • Review and comprehend the Owner's program, ensuring alignment of project objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with design team members on assigned projects for seamless design execution. 
  • Work with local authorities to obtain and prepare necessary documents to secure approvals and permits. 
  • Assist the Sr. Architect in creating detailed documents that articulate the architectural concept.  
  • Assist the Sr. Architect in issuing design phase documents such as schematic design, design development, and construction documents for owner approval. 
  • Utilize software such as Revit, Enscape, BSD Speclink, BlueBeam, and Adobe Suite to carry out design efforts. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current building codes, energy codes, and local ordinances. 
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in architectural design. 
  • Assist with site observations, documenting finding and issuing minutes. 
  • Issue specifications that are thoroughly coordinated with drawings and aligned with the project scope. 
  • Review and comprehend several design documents including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire and sprinkler. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture Required.
  • Must be a licensed Architect in the state of Iowa.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role within commercial and/or industrial construction. 


Travel: Occasional travel to attend trainings, design meetings, or to visit a job site.
