What You Will Be Doing

Our client is a premier mechanical contracting firm based in Ames, Iowa, and is widely recognized as one of the top mechanical contractors in the United States. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, they specialize in providing cutting-edge HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical solutions for a diverse range of commercial and industrial clients across the nation. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer with either a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification to join their dynamic team.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Lead the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Utilize engineering software and tools to create accurate and efficient designs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project designs.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
  • If a PE, take responsibility for the stamping and approval of engineering drawings and documents.
  • If an EIT, work towards obtaining Professional Engineer licensure with guidance and support from the company.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in mechanical engineering.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and innovative solutions.


Other Essential Functions

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • PE or EIT certification is required.
  • Proven experience in the design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
