POSITION PURPOSE: The Program Coordinator assists the Director of Student Ministry in leading the Student Ministry of Christ Presbyterian Church. This candidate will minister to middle and high school students through relational ministry, program planning and implementation, volunteer and parent relationship development and coordination with ministry partners within Christ Presbyterian Church and our larger community. Additionally, this position assists with large group teaching, small group facilitation and one on one meetings and partners with families in the student discipleship process.


DIRECT REPORT: Director of Student Ministry


POSITION OUTCOMES/EXPECTATIONS:

Ministry Development, Programming and Implementation

  • Partner with the Director of Student Ministry and other Student Ministry staff to implement the Student Ministry mission, vision, and core values of CPC Student Ministry.
  • Lead various volunteer ministry teams in support of weekly programming and in support of major events and activities.
  • Partner with Student Ministry staff to plan and execute all Student Ministry major events, ensuring excellence in promotion, production, execution, and attendance.
  • Partner with Student Ministry staff to plan and execute all Student Ministry small and large group regular programming, ensuring it is excellent in promotion, production, execution, and attendance.
  • Facilitate the weekly and major events planning processes, aligning staff and volunteers with ministry and event plans and ensuring a well-coordinated and communicated program.
  • Support Discipleship Coordinators, residents and teaching team with Bible studies, devotionals, and large group teaching.
  • Serve and support overall church programming including Sunday Morning worship and other church events as needed.

Relationships

  • Build consistent relationships with the staff, students, parents, and adult volunteers associated with Student Ministry
  • Actively build relationships across church and school community and within the college and young adult ministries within our church and city to assist in transition of CPC students to these ministries and recruit and develop ministry leaders back into CPC students.
  • Have a consistent presence in student environments (school, home, work, etc.) with a passion for meeting students where they are.
  • Responsible to actively recruit, equip, encourage, and lead a team of adult volunteers who serve in the Student Ministry.
  • Communicate clearly, winsomely, and in a timely fashion with students, parents, and adult volunteers.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of a strategy to equip and empower parents to be effective in the role of primary spiritual nurturers to their children.

Operations

  • Partner with the Director of Students to request, structure, and manage the spending of annual program budget.
  • Assist Director of Students with multi-year ministry planning schedule coordination and implementation.
  • Work with Discipleship Coordinators, other staff and volunteer ministry leaders to develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement for ministry programming.

Personal Development

  • Pursue an intimate relationship with the Lord including daily times of fellowship, prayer, study and other areas of Christian maturity.
  • Pursue ongoing learning and development in specific ministry focus areas to include but not limited to: youth ministry, volunteer leadership, theological study, missions and service, and worship.
  • Pursue emotional and spiritual health through regular rhythms of work and rest, including a weekly sabbath day and additional weekly times of personal rest and relaxation.


UNIVERSAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Worship

  • Contribute to increased traffic of non-churched Nashville residents (chiefly non-Christians, de- churched people, and new residents) into CPC corporate worship services.
  • Shepherd CPC members and attendees to increase the frequency of their Sunday worship attendance and engagement.
  • Contribute to increased engagement of members and regular attendees in private worship involving near-daily Bible reading and prayer.

Connect

  • Contribute to increased numbers and percentages of members/regular attendees who are meaningfully engaged (connecting at least 2x per month) in a smaller community within the church. Involvement in CORE, Connect Groups, and CPC Ministry Teams are to be especially emphasized.
  • Contribute to the increase of regular member/attendee involvement and volunteerism in the church, especially on Sunday mornings and within your ministry area—thereby strengthening CPC as a “staff led, volunteer run” church.
  • Help all members/attendees under your influence to engage meaningfully and enthusiastically in all-church parties, all-church outreach initiatives, etc.
  • Through regular pursuit, recruiting, and equipping, contribute to the continual growth of CPC’s volunteer servant pool—always aiming to “turn strangers into friends, friends into family, and family into empowered servants and leaders.”

Serve

  • Contribute to the increase of regular member/attendee involvement and volunteerism in the church, especially on Sunday mornings and within your ministry area—strengthening CPC as a “staff led, volunteer run” church.
  • Help all members/attendees under your influence engage meaningfully and enthusiastically in CPC parties, outreach initiatives, etc.
  • Through regular recruiting, equipping, and support, contribute to the continual growth of CPC’s volunteer servant pool—always aiming to “turn strangers into friends, friends into family, and family into empowered servants and leaders.”
Requirements:

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience and Skills

  • 2-4 years of experience in full time ministry preferred or other relevant full-time work with significant volunteer ministry experience.
  • Preferred ministry experience includes: paid or volunteer student ministry roles within the church, RUF, Young Life, other campus ministries, camp staff
  • Game development, preparation and facilitation for both small and large group settings.
  • Strong relational skills, self-motivator with the ability to work effectively on a team
  • Desire to work with middle and high school students
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and daily tasks

Requirements

  • Enthusiastic alignment with the Theology and Philosophy of Ministry as communicated in CPC 101
  • All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the church, CPC 101, CPC Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith; all employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
  • Commitment to join CPC as a member within first six months of employment.
