We work directly with 20+ municipalities and 50+ jurisdictions, operate highly regulated facilities in 10+ locations, and have 1,000+ employees.
We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Lead Mechanic to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 14207 Del Monte Blvd. in Marina and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary:
GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Lead Mechanic to provide support to one or more facilities. This role’s main function will provide mechanic duties and support daily work of other shop mechanics and service personnel.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- All duties of a Mechanic I and II
- Ability to quality control and inspect the work of other mechanics, accurately diagnose and repair issues to ensure proper protocols, maintenance and safety procedures are followed
- Ensure that the shop area is clean, organized, and follows safety and environmental best management practices
- Work with management on daily tasks, special jobs, and assignments of duties
- Provide routine inspections of fleet
- Maintain an accurate log of all work performed
- Assist with cross training and best practices of other mechanics and apprentices
- Maintain inventory and order supplies for equipment repair
- Maintain work records and files
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
- Can read, interpret, and compose work orders and schematics.
- Parts/Maintenance software experience
- Basic computer skills required
- Forklift maintenance and repair experience
- Minimum 7 years' experience working with heavy duty vehicles and equipment
- Peterbilt CNG maintenance and repair experience
- Heavy duty vehicle emissions testing experience
Qualifications:
- ASE Certification on electrical, diesel or CNG engines
- ASE Certification on preventative maintenance
- Current California driver license
- Forklift/Boom certified
- CPR trained
Language Skill:
- Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
- Constant bending and twisting
- Frequent standing, walking and semi-frequent sitting
- Constant climbing in and out of company truck
Work Environment:
Typical work week is Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, hours of work (including overtime), travel to different locations/routes based on the operational needs for the day and/or week.
