SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD

WOODSTOCK POLICE DEPARTMENT

The City of Woodstock is a charming historic community of 25,630 residents, located 55 miles northwest of Chicago on Metra rail. Job Summary

The City of Woodstock is accepting applications for the following positions:

  • Immediate - Relief/Substitute Crossing Guards (2 Positions Available):
    • 2 relief/substitute Crossing Guards for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond.
  • 2024-2025 School Year School Crossing Guards and Beyond (2 Positions Available):
    • 2 Crossing Guards for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond.

The Crossing Guard staff is responsible for seven (7) dedicated school crossings within the City of Woodstock, providing for the safe transit of our community's children to and from school. Crossing Guards work Monday - Friday at a designated crossing location during the school year and most positions are scheduled in two shifts.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Consistent work record demonstrating dependability and punctuality.
  2. Ability to deal with the general public, especially children, in a pleasant, courteous manner.
  3. Ability to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
  4. Tolerance of all-weather conditions and ability to work in various temperatures.
  5. Ability to stand and walk for the entire school crossing shift.
  6. Visual and auditory acuity, whether natural or corrected.
  7. High School Diploma/Equivalent.

Pay Rate

The pay rate is $15.05/per hour with no additional benefits. The pay rate is anticipated to increase to $16.21/hour as of May 1, 2024.
