AWS Certified Welder

Job Summary

The Welder AWS Certified position will perform diversified hand welding on a wide variety of complex assemblies and structures using welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machined parts and trenching and shoring equipment. This position is a safety sensitive role that requires compliance with the company's drug and alcohol policy and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
• Welds metal components together using either gas welding, brazing, or any combination of arc welding processes.
• Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified.
• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Examines welding for bead size and other specifications.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
• Positions and clamps workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
• Tacks assemblies together, cleans or de-greases parts.
• Performs related tasks such as grinding and thermal cutting.
• Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Performs routine maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding.
• Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of the welding area.
• Perform self-inspection of finished parts.
• All other duties assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to work hours as required.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or completion of Company training program to the satisfaction of the Supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Minimum (3) three years welding experience.
2. Must possess an AWS Certification.
3. Must have a valid driver's license.
4. Ability to obtain forklift certification as required.
