Job Summary
The Welder AWS Certified position will perform diversified hand welding on a wide variety of complex assemblies and structures using welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machined parts and trenching and shoring equipment. This position is a safety sensitive role that requires compliance with the company's drug and alcohol policy and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
- Welds metal components together using either gas welding, brazing, or any combination of arc welding processes.
- Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified.
- Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examines welding for bead size and other specifications.
- Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
- Positions and clamps workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
- Tacks assemblies together, cleans or de-greases parts.
- Performs related tasks such as grinding and thermal cutting.
- Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
- Performs routine maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding.
- Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of the welding area.
- Perform self-inspection of finished parts.
- All other duties assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be willing to work hours as required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or completion of Company training program to the satisfaction of the Supervisor.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and control.
- Emotional Intelligence, collaboration and communication skills.
- Leadership and teaching/mentoring.
- Quick thinker and ability to prioritize safety first.
- Organization and project management methodology.
Qualifications
- Minimum (3) three years welding experience.
- Must possess an AWS Certification.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification as required.
