Bennett Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Traffic Engineer to join and help lead our expanding team of design professionals in Sacramento. This position offers the opportunity to work on various public infrastructure and private development projects, including Signal Designs, Pedestrian/Roadway Safety, Multi-modal Operations, Work Zone Traffic Control, and Roadway Lighting Design.

Position Summary: A Mid-Level Traffic Engineer manages and executes traffic engineering projects, signal designs, and safety plans. They collaborate with team members and clients, use engineering software to analyze traffic patterns, and ensure compliance with regulations. This role involves preparing technical reports, managing project timelines and budgets, and serving as a bridge between junior engineers and senior management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of engineers and technicians designing and producing a variety of traffic engineering projects
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for traffic signals, lighting, ramp metering, transportation electrical systems, signing, pavement delineation, and construction stage traffic handling
  • Perform work under an agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision
Requirements
  • BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Civil, Electrical, or Traffic Engineering in California. If registered outside California, it is expected to be registered in California within 2 years
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic signals, lighting, ramp metering, transportation electrical systems, signing, pavement delineation, and construction stage traffic handling
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISUAL, and AutoTurn, is preferred
